Our History

Australian owned and operated, JD Lighting began trading as just a small family business in 2010 with a vision; to be everyone’s favourite lighting store. Jack, his wife Angie and his three boys Peter, Terry and Chris set out with this vision and have created what has become one of the biggest nation-wide names in lighting. JD Lighting’s first official premises was a small modest retail store but that didn’t stop the team from dreaming big. With the goal to be the best in the industry, every JD staff member carries the motto that every customer should walk out of the door feeling completely satisfied and well-informed. It is this JD Promise that has propelled the company to strong growth year after year. With the goal to turn the retail showroom into the ultimate one-stop-shop for customers, a much larger retail space was imminent. In 2012, JD Lighting expanded and doubled the size of its retail showroom in order to provide customers a better shopping experience with much more choices. JD Lighting is also one of the first to recognise the benefits of online shopping and identified a gap in the online market for lighting and fans.

With strong growth comes the need for a much larger stock holding. JD Lighting have found the need to expand its warehousing operations by more than 7 fold, upgrading to the current 2300 m2 warehouse. With over 30,000 products available at our fingertips, JD Lighting aims to carry a huge majority of the most popular items in-stock, ready for immediate despatch or pickup to ensure you get what you want, when you want it; now.

With a recently opened Commercial Wholesale division, JD Lighting now has its sights set on this new market, breaking the traditional selling methods of todays lighting wholesalers. With expert knowledge, our electrical wholesale team is there to provide the best service to Builders, Electricians and Contractors at the sharpest prices possible, while having the stock on hand and ready to go.

JD Lighting treats every staff member as they are a part of the JD family, working and growing together through both good times and tough times. JD lighting commenced trading with only a handful of employees, but by staying true to our roots and looking after our family, JD Lighting now has more than 32 Employees

JD Lighting were one of the first lighting retailers to heavily promote the growth and benefits of LED Technology. The JD Lighting purchasing team have been researching and developing products closely with major Australian lighting brands and manufacturers to deliver a better product for consumers. We don’t just buy and resell products, JD Lighting help develop new products through innovation and customer feedback. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority. 

At our warehouse location, we have set up a small testing facility that we use to stress test the products we sell. If any of the products don’t meet our high standard, we don’t sell them; simple! Through selective buying and testing, this allows us to fully stand by any of the products that we sell, giving you piece of mind that what you are buying is going to do its job and last for many years to come.

As the old saying goes when it comes to pricing, “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is”; well we don’t believe that! Our sales are real, and the product’s we sell are of the utmost best quality. In this rapidly evolving market, many other retailers try to compete on price through
